Warm Heads/Warm Hearts Knitting Project

Do You Knit?  If so, we invite you to join the project!  Make hats, scarves, and sweaters for needy children around the world!  The following organizations will receive the fruits of our labor:

1. Jiaozhou Welfare Institute, Jiaozhou, China (YuLan's former residence).  One hundred and twenty-three children receive assistance from the Chinese Orphanage Assistance Team (COAT) at JWI.  Our goal is to provide each child with a knitted garmet made by loving hands.

2. Mountain Mission School in Grundy, VA. This school provides a home and schooling for orphaned children in Appalachia.  Visit the website at:  www.mountainmissionschool.org

3. Operation Christmas Child by Samaritan's Purse.  This organization operates the "shoebox project". We will be distributing hats to people who are donating a shoebox gift in November, 2010 through 2 churches in Lexington, KY.  Learn more about Operation Christmas Child at: www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/occ/index

How can you join the project?
Simply e-mail us through our Contact Us page on this website.

What can you knit?
The children are boys and girls, aged from infancy to 18 years old.  Your knitting doesn't need to be fancy, just warm.  Hats and scarves are easy to produce. If you'd like to knit sweaters, the kids would love that too.

We ask that as you knit your projects you visualize a life full of blessings for the child who will wear it.  Our family has learned to never underestimate the power of positive thoughts and prayers!

Where do I send my completed projects?
Send them to:  SoapWerks, P.O. Box 4056, Midway KY 40437
We would like to start distributing items in October and November, 2010, so please send them to us by Oct. 15, 2010.

If you can contribute a dollar or two to help with the cost of sending the garmets to China and Virginia, that would be great.  But, it is not a requirement.

What if I don't knit, but want to help?
Please pass along information about Warm Heads/Warm Hearts to your friends, church groups, knitting groups, or local yarn shops.

Sponsoring a child through COAT is very rewarding.  Sponsorship information can be found at:  www.eagleswingschina.org

Donations to Mountain Mission School and Operation Christmas Child may be made through their websites.
